Owens Coastal Consultants has 45 years of experience in marine and inland oil spill response and training worldwide. He has been a consultant to industry, the World Bank, governments and various United Nations organizations. Dr. Owens provided technical support for many response operations such as the T/V Exxon Valdez, Komineft pipelines (Russia) and was the Technical Advisor to BP for Shoreline Response and the SCAT program following the Deepwater Horizon incident. Dr. Owens has been active throughout his career on spill-related R&D projects, including recent studies on oil detection canines and the use of UASs for shoreline surveys.
